IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Selinsgrove Municipal Authority has elected to cease the addition of fluoride.
Fluoridation will be discontinued on September 1, 2026.
What should I do?
You do not need to use an alternative (i.e., bottled water) water supply. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.
What does this mean?
This is not an emergency. If it had been you would have been notified immediately. This is a notification of change in treatment technique.
What happened? What is being done?
The Selinsgrove Municipal Authority and Selinsgrove Borough Council voted to remove fluoride from the water system effective September 1, 2026.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

At their March 2026 meetings, the Selinsgrove Municipal Authority and the Selinsgrove Borough Council approved the system wide removal of fluoridation from its water system. A Public Water Supply major amendment permit application will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection requesting that the public water supply permit be amended to have fluoridation removed from the operating permit. The transition from a fluoridated to a non-fluoridated system is expected to occur on or about September 1st, 2026.
Comments can be submitted to Pennsylvania DEP at 208 W Third St, Suite 101 Williamsport, PA 17701 or to Selinsgrove Borough at One North High Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870, (570)-374-2311 from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
