Public Water
The Selinsgrove Municipal Water Authority is a five (5) member board appointed by the Selinsgrove Borough Council. The members serve 5-year terms.
The Authority meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Selinsgrove Community building, provided that there is business to conduct. In Selinsgrove Borough, the members of the Selinsgrove Municipal Authority receive no compensation.
The Selinsgrove Municipal Authority is a component unit of the Borough of Selinsgrove, although it is legally separate from Borough Council. Its original purpose was to account for the long-term debt of the Water Fund of the Borough of Selinsgrove. As the Borough’s long-term debt of the Water Fund has been paid off, the main objective of the Authority is to decide on issues related to the over-all water system infrastructure and to sell water to various entities located outside the legal limits of the Borough of Selinsgrove.
The Authority is the owner of the water system and leases the maintenance and operation of the water system to the Borough of Selinsgrove. The Authority is also the financing authority for the water system for the Borough of Selinsgrove. A portion of the water system of the Borough of Selinsgrove was initially constructed by and financed through the Selinsgrove Municipal Authority.
In the event of an emergency, call 911, not the Water Authority.
