Avoid Freezing Pipes and Meters During a Cold Snap
When the temperature suddenly drops to near or below zero for a short period of time, you may not always think about how it affects your water pipes, meter, and faucets.
To avoid freezing pipes, insulate water meters, pipes, and faucets in unheated areas. Wrap pipes with pipe-insulating material, which is available at hardware stores. Allowing a faucet to drip during the extreme cold event can help keep it from freezing as well.
