Selinsgrove Borough Council Adopts Flood Resiliency Plan

Selinsgrove Borough Council has formally adopted the Selinsgrove Borough Flood Resiliency Study, a comprehensive plan to strengthen the community’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from flooding.

The plan, developed by AKRF, Inc. with support from Stahl Sheaffer Engineering, Connect the Dots, and JEME, was funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Flood Mitigation Assistance Program and administered by the SEDA-Council of Governments.

Key features of the plan include:

· A Flood Response Operations (FRO) Plan to guide coordinated action during flood events.

· Preparedness and communication tools for residents and businesses.

· Infrastructure and mitigation strategies to reduce damage from future floods.

· Integration of historic preservation efforts to protect Selinsgrove’s unique character.

“Selinsgrove has a long history of resilience in the face of flooding,” said Lauren Martz, Borough Manager “By adopting this plan, we are taking proactive steps to safeguard our residents, businesses, and historic community assets.”

The Borough’s adoption of the plan also supports participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS), which can reduce flood insurance premiums for residents and increase eligibility for future mitigation funding.

Copies of the plan are available at the Borough Office and on the Borough’s website at www.selinsgrove.org.
